Kayla Abrahamson
Kayla Abrahamson, West Virginia University
Kayla is a first-year doctorate student and Graduate Research Assistant at West Virginia University, working alongside Dr. Andrea Taliaferro. She is currently studying in the Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies program with a cognate in Adapted Physical Activity. Throughout her academic career, Kayla received her Bachelor Degree of Science in Kinesiology at James Madison University, and then her Master Degree of Science in Adapted Physical Activity at Slippery Rock University. During those years, she spent much time dedicated to physical activity programming for children with disabilities.
Kayla’s research interests include a variety of health promoting topics including 1) the relationship between adaptive sports and veterans with disabilities, 2) the effect of physical activity on motor development of pre-school aged children with disabilities, and 3) community-based physical activity programs for children with disabilities.
