Kimberly Smith, The Ohio State University
Kim is a second year APE doctoral students at The Ohio State University. Before coming to OSU, she worked as a certified clinical exercise physiologist for 10 years within a Neuro Rehabilitation facility and 5 years previous to that within Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Her Bachelor’s Degree in exercise & sport science from Wright State University and Master’s Degree in exercise science from the University of Dayton, both located in Dayton, Ohio. Her passion for working with individuals with disabilities stemmed from her work with a County Board of Developmental Disabilities, before completing her Bachelor’s Degree.
Kim’s research interest is to increase healthcare providers’ confidence in interactions with individuals with disabilities through adapted physical education or adapted physical activity programs. She would like to utilize these programs to increase medical student or medical resident experiences with individuals with disabilities, thus, to increase health outcomes.
