Podcast-What’s New in Adapted Physical Education

A podcast station that tries to cover subjects pertaining to Adapted Physical Education(APE) and spreading the word of the importance of APE, also utilizes podcast to inform the community about the benefit of APE. 

The National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID)

NCPEID is a national organization that plays a pivotal role in influencing the direction and development of the adapted physical education/activity field. Its mission is to promote, stimulate, and encourage legislative mandates, professional preparation, advocacy, and research in physical activity, physical education and recreation for individuals with disabilities. 

International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity

IFAPA is an international scientific organization of higher education scholars, practitioners and students dedicated to promoting APA. IFAPA coordinates national, regional, and international functions (both governmental and nongovernmental) that pertain to sport, dance, aquatics, exercise, fitness, and wellness for individuals of all ages with disabilities or special needs. It has seven regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Oceania, South America. 

Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) Website 

The mission of APENS is to promote the fifteen Adapted Physical Education Standards and national certification exam.  The goal of APENS is to promote a nationally certified Adapted Physical Educator (CAPE) – the one qualified person who can make meaningful decisions for children with disabilities in physical education – within every school district in the country. 

The North American Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (NAFAPA)

NAFAPA is an international organization dedicated to the promotion, dissemination and practical application of results and findings in the field of physical activity for the benefit of populations with disabilities and/or special needs. 

European Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (EUFAPA)

EUFAPA is a European organization concerned with promotion and dissemination of experiences, results and findings in the fields of adapted physical activity and sport science, and their practical application to the benefit of individuals across the life span. 

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. 

International Paralympic Committee (IPC)

IPC is an athlete-centered organization composed of an elected Governing Board, a management team and various Standing Committees and Councils. The IPC’s primary responsibilities are to support our 200 plus members develop Para sport and advocate social inclusion, ensure the successful delivery and organization of the Paralympic Games and act as the international federation for 10 Para sports. 

The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD)

ICSD is the main governing body responsible for the organization of Deaflympics and other World Deaf Championships.
